Special Rotary Presentation on the Issues

that have Evolved in the Middle East

"The Disintegration of the Middle East:

Implications for the US and the West"

This evening lecture presents and analyzes major processes and events that have transformed governments, organizations and borders in the Middle East.  These include the "Arab Spring;" the civil wars in Syria, Libya and Yemen; the revolution and counter-revolution in Egypt, the rise of the Islamic State (ISIS); the occupation of territories in Syria and Iraq, and the US-led war; and Iran's efforts to become a nuclear power.

The speaker is Dr. Eytan Gilboa, former professor of Political Science and Communication at Bar-Ihan University in Israel. He is presently chair and academic director of the Israel Public Diplomacy Forum (IPD) which is a non-profit, non- partisan, educational organization established to advance international understanding of the Middle East.

This extended presentation will take place on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at the Hotel Albuquerque, in the Franciscan ballroom. Many area Rotary clubs are cancelling their regularly scheduled programs in order to meet with RCA at this unique opportunity.  Meeting begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. The speaker begins at 7:00 p.m. and will conclude by 8:00 p.m.

Hotel Albuquerque is preparing a special Mediterranean menu buffet for our event.
